Jeannie Dixon

Jeanie_Dixon_profileMy name is Jeanie Dixon and I was born and bred in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

I have been painting with acrylics all my life on canvas, pots, old sawblades and anything else I could bring to life with colour. I completed my art studies  at TAFE in the Riverina Wagga Wagga. I moved from the country 10 years ago to the south coast NSW.

I love the untamed coastal beaches and surrounds walking with nature listening and watching the birds is a past time for me they inspire me to paint. I love fishing the Tuross River and waiting in silence listening to the sound of the shoreline birds. I love painting pelicans they are a beautiful subject.

“This transformative sea change inspired a new element style in my work”

I have now mastered the art of watercolour and in doing so I have created something unique. I started painting birds with watercolour and my imagination took me to another level.

Each original bird piece has been hand crafted with ethically sourced feathers and cased in a modern shadow box. I have been selling at Tuross and the handmade on the south coast markets for the last 3 years. I’m excited to be invited to join the creative artist at the artisans Nest Gallery in Mogo.

My collection of birds includes magpies Kookaburras, galahs, Peacock, lyre bird, Kingfisher, Owls, Blue wrens and many more.
