Tony Jaggers

Tony_Jaggers_profile_picI first began woodturning about 30 years ago. Ive always loved working with wood having built my first guitar.

I was lucky enough to know a friend whose business was sourcing Australian Burl Timbers from out of  Western NSW and so the journey began.  I started taking pieces to the local Markets and was very happy to have reasonable success. I also exhibited in Lee Millers Mogo Gallery and had great sales. I was also contacted by a gallery owner in Garland Texas USA who wanted to hold a exhibition of my work.  I have had work in different galleries including the Argyle Gallery at the Rocks.

After a heart attack at 58years old, I returned to my other love playing music and moved away from turning.

In 2013 my father in law passed away and left my wife his (circa 1864) federation home on the Moruya riverbank.  After much consideration we decided to keep the dwelling, renovate and move in and thus began
8 years of fun/hard work as the house was stripped back to its original timbers, new kitchens and bathrooms, still remaining true to its external design.

I think it was after completing the onerous task of restumping and reaching the age of 70 I said enough!   I dragged out my old lathe, and so embarked on a journey of new equipment.   Luckily my source of burls was guarantee.
I guess I’m technically retired but I spend 8 hours a day
in my workshop …loving every minute of it.  Excited to be a part of the Nest!
